Why learn Arabic?

By studying Arabic while living in Qatar you can have a conversation with a Qatari in their language and thus gain their respect, feel completely at ease with the Qatari people and the culture, open doors in your career, strike friendships with Arab speakers, learn more about the Qatari culture, be able to read slogans or signs, read the Quraan with understanding and gain a deeper perspective of the Arabic-speaking world.

Below are a list of Institutes and organisations that offer ways to learn Arabic in Qatar

1) Qatar University

Arabic for Non-Native speakers

The centre aims to advance the communication skills of its participants in Modern Standard Arabic; listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Classes are small, with an average of 10-15 students in the Beginning and Intermediate levels, and approximately 10 in the Advanced level.

2) Qatar Islamic Cultural Center (FANAR)/ Abdulla bin Zaid Al Mahmoud

Duration: Upto 3 Months


Level One
Teaches the Arabic alphabet, reading and writing Arabic, greetings , numbers and the names of the days of the weeks etc.
Level Two 
One learns how to construct sentences, and how to express themselves properly.
Level Three
Improve four faculties : reading , writing , listening and speaking.

Arabic grammar.

3) Stenden Institute
(previously known as the CHN Institute) has Arabic language courses

6) Qatar Foundation (QF)

QF has a 30-hour course of Basic Arabic offered to the audience ages 18+.

In the summer QF teach a beginner’s class in spoken and written Arabic for youth aged 12 to 18 years.

The new session of Arabic Language classes are Starting 2nd of September 2017.

Cost: Qar 1500pp

When? MON, TUE & THUR

Basic Arabic language skills by learning the Arabic alphabet and acquire speaking and listening skills through a variety of everyday situations. You learn how to greet and address people properly, introduce yourself, how to socialize, how to tell the time and date, etc. Language instruction is taught in the context of Qatari and Middle Eastern culture.

Course duration: 40 hours

Pre-requisites: No prior knowledge of Arabic is expected.

PRACTICE ARABIC WITH A NATIVE ARABIC SPEAKER AT Qatar National Library.

QNL is providing a chance for those who are learning Arabic as a second language to practice speaking Arabic. Discuss daily life and common Arabic words with a native Arabic speaker every Wednesday in January 2018.

    1. I would say that the best way to learn Arabic is speaking more often with arabs, especially who pronounce the arabic letters very well. Best of luck ^^
